For centuries this almost square marketplace has been the main tourist attraction of Toruń.
According to the legend, this medieval fortified tower was built by a Teutonic knight from Toruń as a penance for committed sins.
The construction of the cathedral started in mid–13th century and was continued in stages for over 200 years. It is the biggest of all town’s churches.
Its construction started in 1309, on the Teutonic Order’s initiative. The church is presumed to be the most beautiful of all Toruń’s churches.
This gothic church was built by Franciscan friars in mid- 15th century.
