The city, famous for its gingerbread, enjoys unfailing ginger popularity. Crowds of those who want to bake and keep this spicy souvenir are getting bigger and bigger year after year. Luckily, we can recommend several places where this dream will come true! Żywe Muzeum Piernika (The Living Museum of Gingerbread) invites for an adventure which will be remembered for long. The original scenario allows to experience the role of an old apprentice and, under the watchful eyes of the master, to bake the delicacy oneself. Apart from baking classes, the Living Museum of Gingerbread, holds a collection of exhibits which evokes even the oldest traditions of this craft. Gingerbread has been made since the sixteenth century and the period of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was the time of increased competition on honey market. Carefully selected memorabilia remind us about the greatest gingerbread manufacturers. Besides the ones mentioned above, there are other smaller gingerbread bakeries in the Old Town, and they can be easily found in the internet. Only in Żeglarska Street there are a few gingerbread shops. Visitors can enjoy their shopping in the Old Town Square, Piekary Street and Kopernika Street.
